Summer 2014 Local hotel offers

Summer has arrived and it's starting to get so hot I'm having trouble differentiating my oven door and my front door again. For those of you that are not heading off for the summer, its a great time of year to do 2 things: 1) Blow off some steam with a stay-cation and 2) check out some great local luxury hotels.

Here is a list of local hotel's offerings - I'll add to it as I get more information.

The Grand Hyatt

RO 95 onwards per night until August 31st (with a minimum 3 night stay), with a 25% discount at the Mokha Cafe. Seeing as it's only for those staying 3 nights or longer, I'm not sure if anyone living in Muscat looking for a weekend break can even consider this.

The Chedi

This year the people at the Chedi are offering a great rate of RO 85 for a room, with 20% off on food & soft drinks and 30% off at The Spa. This is my top 1-night stay option, with Alila below being for 2 nights.

The Shangri-La

As usual, some fantastic rates from the Shang:
Al Waha Superior at OMR 75 nett per room per night
Al Bandar Deluxe at OMR 90 nett per room per night
Al Husn Deluxe at OMR 125 nett per room per night

NOTE:
Above rates are inclusive of breakfast for 2 Adults and 17% taxes & service charge
Kids eats, stay, play for free!!! (terms and conditions apply)
Stay dates from now until 31 August 2014

The InterCon

A pretty good deal at the InterCon - RO 69 + tax (but includes breakfast and wifi) for a night on either Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

The Crowne are only offering summer savings to their Corporate customers, but if you happen to work for any of their corporate customers, you can get this rate too. Of course you could try and ask for the corporate rate and see if they give it to you. RO  70 + tax (includes breakfast and wifi) or RO 60 + tax without breakfast. It's good from now till the end of August.

There are 3 summer offers: RO 90 for a room + breakfast, or RO 120 for a room + breakfast + lunch OR dinner with 2 adults and 2 kids up to age 12 (it is RO 105 if you are a single parent with 1 kid).

Sifawy Hotel

The Sifawy hotel are doing a hotter it is, the less you pay gig. Basically the price starts at RO 110, then for every 'C in temperature, 1 rial is deducted. EG if it's 40'C, the price is RO 70. You can pay an additional RO 20 and get a suite.

This is a brand new Alila hotel property that's just opened (still not 100% of rooms are open yet) up on Jebel Akhdar. They are offering 2 nights for RO 98++ (first night costs 98, 2nd night is "free" with a donation to Musahamatee) which includes breakfasts and runs till the 24th July. This is my top recommended 2 night stay suggestion this summer.

Again some really good rates here, RO 53 net inc breakfast (or RO 59 if you want a sea view). Alternatively you can stay for RO 89 which includes breakfast as well as 2 30 minute spa treatments.

Crowne Plaza Sohar

The CP in Sohar is offering OMR 59+17% tax per night (Sgl or Dbl) with Buffet Breakfast until the end of the Summer.

Hilton Salalah

The Hilton are running some great summer rates until 20th July:

RO 35 net including breakfast or RO 50 net including breakfast and dinner. That's a pretty good deal!

I'm still waiting to hear back from some other hotels, so check back in a few days for more deals in Oman.

  3. So Muscat has managed to fail to deliver anything original or of value at all.
How much for the InterCon?? Seriously Hyatt- minimum 3 nights? They're all delusional.
Look at the offers going on in Dubai for proper 5-star hotels

For most of these offers you can spend 2 nights in Dubai for the price of one here. And not get ripped off in the bars/restaurants.
Tourism in Oman is a joke.

I heard Sifawy was doing an offer whereby the discount you get is based on the temperature that day: 40C? 40 Rial off the room rate. Shame they don't do it in Fahrenheit!
