Carrefour Salalah opens, starts with an immediate fail.

French super-market chain, Carrefour, finally opened it's new store in Salalah off of Robat Road just before the weekend last week. Local Dhofari blogger, Dhofar Eco Bug, covered the opening on their blog, which I'm basically re-blogging here because it just blows me away that this would even happen.

In an apparent marketing strategy to indicate just how fresh their cuts of meat are at Carrefour Salalah, some bright spark thought it'd be a great idea to get a cow in on the act. A real, live, terrified cow. Locked in a cage, and wheeled around the fresh meat section of the supermarket.

What. The. Fuck?

Aside from the fact that this would have been totally terrifying for the cow, what exactly did the management think would happen when the cow inevitably shat itself? So, come to Carrefour, and smell poop and buy possibly contaminated meat.

Rightyho!

I robbed the pictures from Dofar Eco Bug's blog, and the pictures were taken by S Anil Kumar - thanks for sharing them!

le fin.

You absolute bunch of fricking morons Carrefour! This needs to be dealt with!

Mind you - the list of endless possibilities for 'live advertising' is hilarious:
    - condoms?
    - tampons?
    - adult nappies?

I suggest the buffon who came up with this idea should be stripped naked, covered in cat food and thrown into a dustbin...

  14. Hello !

My soon-to-be husband and I are moving to Muscat soon for work. Your website is one of the first I foun after searching in vain French blogs (our mother tongue). Reading your posts and others (even if it's in English ahah) makes me more aware about what is waiting for us in this country and I want to say thank you for that.

By the way, I assume you want to end your posts by "the end" translated into French. So in French, it would be only "Fin." and in other way, it's said "la fin" (it's a feminine word, "le" is for masculine ones).

    Thank you again anyway !

  17. "Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing a little research on that. And he just bought me lunch as I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch! “One who’s our friend is fond of us one who’s fond of us isn’t necessarily our friend.” by Geoffrey F. Albert."

Obviously your anti-robot measures aren't working.
