Water shortages in Seeb

So the drought continues up in Seeb and beyond, with little to no water pressure available to most people living there. The desalination plants in Barka are running, so I don't think it is a problem with the supply, and so must be a case of the upgrading works that are being installed at the moment which has caused the shortage.

People are struggling to even get water trucks as they're busy fulfilling their existing Contracts and there isn't much spare capacity to cater to such a large area with people calling for a tank fill up.

Does anyone have any more information on this? If a Contractor is upgrading pumps / pipes, why has no temporary over-pumping (pumps laid on the ground to transfer the water) been put in place?

  1. We spent a couple of hours chasing water trucks around
    Al Hail last night ):
Eventually found the water depot and persuaded one to finally follow us home. Anyone know when this is going to be sorted ?

  2. You know, buying your own water pressure device is not too expensive. You can get it installed. I know, if they fix the pressure like tomorrow the purchase would seem a waste, but I think it is always nice to have a back-up.

One OPNO girl is in Al Hail. She just bought and installed her own water pressure pump thingie and had no problems, water since day two of this issue.

  3. Alot of our friends have bought their own water pumps, prices ranging from 12or's to 45,depending on the area where purchased.Again, ruthless shop owners playing on peoples misfortune.

Water pumps are the way to go but shop around and let's hope the situation improves.

  4. Tanker drivers are charging 15 OMR a go - which is scandalous. My monthly bill is usually 5 OMR...

  5. I just arrived to Muscat and live there, the pressure is so low, I hope they fix it soon

  6. I pay my tanker usually just 30 OMR total a month to come every 3 days. That should be your price guide.

If you are getting ripped for tankers just buy a pressure machine.

  7. Sythe: They say the main pump for all of that area is broken. Not one of the smaller ones. Which is apparently the issue not construction. They fixed it I heard last but maybe they are replacing others or I heard wrong.

  8. We were paying OR 15 each time the tank needed refilling which is about every 4 days. We managed to get it down to OR 12 but know the real price is OR 5. We know of people who are paying much more than that and there seems to be no explanation as to why or when it will be fixed. :-(

  11. OK, the Minister in charge of the wtaer says the main pump for presusre is broken. No one has clarified whether they are waiting for a part to arrive or it is just too expensive to fix and they want all the people to buy their own devices (bad idea----stronger pressure devices will mean less pressure for neighbors ect). He did say the guy in charge of managing this fiasco will be forced to live in his hosue for two months without water. I amtaking that was a sarcastic joke but...
