This Friday night (5th May) from 7:30pm at the Afrah ballroom in the Grand Hyatt, Muscat, the Muscat Rugby Football Club will be celebrating the end of the season with its annual ball, which has been running every year for some 40+ years. The Muscat Pirates, which are the youth section, have gone from strength to strength and have taken home a lot of silverware from various tournaments this year, the Vets managed to bring some silverware home from Bahrain, but we won't ask exactly how they got that silverware. And of course, the Mens team managed to win their league for the second time in 6 years, the Gulf Conference, which consists of teams from Kuwait, Bahrain, Doha, Saudi and Oman.
Entertainment is provided by The Electric Street Band, who are coincidentally making a return to the music scene here in Muscat after some time off. Tickets are RO 45 (if you are a member of the MRFC, tickets are RO 40) or you can buy tables of 10 for RO 400. This gets you a sit-down 3 course dinner, sparkling wine reception and of course, as is expected - an open bar all night long.
The dress code is Black Tie, but in order to reflect the diversity of the club, all guests are requested to add a touch from their home nation to their outfit. This will be my 10th Oval ball, and I've had fun at every single one - and at RO 40, it has consistently remained one of the most affordable annual ball's on the Muscat social calendar.
If you'd like to get tickets to this event, please send me an email and I'll put you in touch with one of the roaming ticket sellers.
