The Avenues mall opens tomorrow

Tomorrow (18th May) see's a soft launch of the Avenues mall (lulu mall) in Ghubra (but they insist it's Bowsher). It's a quiet launch, and the mall should be officially opened around 1pm tomorrow afternoon. The top level (3rd floor) isn't ready yet, and so will be blocked off, but the rest of the areas of the mall will be open (except of course the cinema which hasn't started yet), and I'm told that there will be about 50 stores open tomorrow, with up to an additional 50 stores that will be ready by the end of the month, so by June, 100 or so stores will be open.

The sad news is that Boots won't be in those 100 stores. In fact, if rumors are true, Boots might not be coming to Muscat at all, something to do with licenses or something. Their branding is up in the mall, but there isn't any work done to the unit behind the hoarding I'm told. Time will tell I guess.

It'll be nice to walk around the mall, and in a few months I'm sure most of the outlets will be open. Ghubra is getting better and better.... :)

  2. That area is considered Bosher or Khuwair but definitely not Ghubra.

  7. I really enjoy your blogs and thanks for putting the actual date on this blog when something is happening. I have looked at several blogs in the past and got quite excited about something - only to find out that I was a year or 2 too late ha ha ha.
If you wouldn't mind - could you pls start your blog with the date that you write it - it will save me and others a few disappointments! Keep up the good work - thank you

  8. To the last anon - I know!!! I am pulling my hair out trying to get the dates back - I've tried everything I can think of, even uploading different templates but still nothing. I'll start putting the dates into every post I make going forward. You can see the publishing date if you hover your mouse over the time that the post was published, a little sign will come up with the full date. I've got full date details checked on the blog but it's just not working.

    I'll keep trying.

    Typical.
    Lowest bidder construction.
    Shoddy workmanship. No finishing.
    Useless!
