The newspaper later retracted the story about the 10 days in jail for cellphone users with a clarification from an ROP official (they did not have the guts to say that they got it wrong). The Times seem to have taken the original story down from their site - but it is still there on online forums like English Sabla.

http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showthread.php?81393-Using-cell-phone-at-the-wheel-can-land-you-in-jail

DeepakDeepaknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2368053937631641478.post-51904202044307379792012-08-29T09:22:33.854+04:002012-08-29T09:22:33.854+04:00Ahmed that was not very nice.Ahmed that was not very nice.Sythehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09864800112417099664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2368053937631641478.post-37180110875123419492012-08-29T02:39:15.392+04:002012-08-29T02:39:15.392+04:00muck raking jesus freak sissymuck raking jesus freak sissyahmed 'roundabout' al-Bnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2368053937631641478.post-39005540374441883492012-08-28T14:45:16.168+04:002012-08-28T14:45:16.168+04:00Professional courtesy I'm sure.Professional courtesy I'm sure.Sythehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09864800112417099664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2368053937631641478.post-39868401322360701522012-08-28T13:06:23.003+04:002012-08-28T13:06:23.003+04:00BTW, in the Muscat Daily report (located here: htt...BTW, in the Muscat Daily report (located here: http://www.muscatdaily.com/Archive/Oman/You-can-have-a-job-and-a-business-Ministry-clarifies-1nlt), I noticed that MD doesn't mention The Times of Oman(ToO) directly but simply writes, "contrary to a recent media report". I wonder if they left out ToO as a matter of professional courtesy or out of fear that they would be in violation of the cyberlaw in mentioning them directly. ?!Andrew Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18153878010708874871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2368053937631641478.post-62843013201029334282012-08-28T12:22:42.954+04:002012-08-28T12:22:42.954+04:00That's a major mistake!
